Asian Supermarket To Open at Former Toys 'R' Us Location

Lotte Plaza will move into One Mile West Shopping Center.

Lotte Plaza, the international market that primarily sells Asian food and products, is opening a store in Catonsville.

According to a press release, the store has signed a lease for the 46,000-square-foot retail space that had been occupied by Toys "R" Us on Baltimore National Pike. The Fedder Company owns One Mile West Shopping Center.

The store will undergo renovations, which are expected to begin this month, and is scheduled to open this summer The store will bring 50-75 jobs to Catonsville initially, according to Alvin Lee, director of Lotte Plaza.

Lotte Plaza also has stores in Ellicott City, Germantown and Silver Spring. The Ellicott City store is also on Baltimore National Pike, but Lee said the Catonsville store will help them reach a different market.


"The success of our Ellicott City store indicates a strong local interest in our concepts and our products. The new store will make our offerings more accessible to shoppers in Baltimore City, Northern Baltimore County and Anne Arundel counties," he wrote in an email.
