Artist Cafe Looks Closed for Business

Coffee shop that replaced Six Mile Coffee on Frederick Road has apparently shut down.

In less than two years, a second coffee shop that has tried to do business at 609 Frederick Road appears to have closed its doors for good.

, which opened in , was dark on Tuesday morning, with signs on the front door and the drive-through window saying 'closed.'

Patch readers had reported stopping by several times in the last two weeks and finding the cafe closed. Owner Debbie Ford has not returned multiple calls seeking comment.

The coffee shop is the second one that has existed in that space, after opened in late October of 2010. The late last June.

Chris Sikora, who was the owner of Six Mile Coffee, said that the store never got close to drawing in the foot traffic that had been projected.

Longtime Catonsville resident Debbie Ford and partner Andy Richardson told Patch before they opened that they wanted to keep the inside of the space basically intact but also wanted to make it more of a gathering spot for artists.

Ford said she hoped to utilize the building's for artist workshops and special events.

The building, which is owned by Catonsville resident Craig Witzke, had been renovated just prior to Six Mile Coffee opening in 2010.
