Auditions for The Last Five Years produced by The Heritage Players

The Heritage Players are Searching for a Dream Cast for their Upcoming Production of The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown

Auditions will be held by appointment on May 13th
and 14th, 2012.  Email wendy@theatremarketingideas.com to schedule an audition.  Show dates: July 12-15 and
July 19-22 of 2012.  ALL ROLES ARE OPEN and unpaid.  Direction by Wendy Meetze.  Auditions and performances will be taking place at Rice Auditorium, 55 Wade Avenue, Catonsville MD 21228. Headshots and current resumes are required.  Actors should prepare a short monologue, a ballad and an up-tempo song. The show will be double cast. Each actor will perform a leading role in four of the eight shows and perform in a non-singing role in the other four performances.

The Last Five Years is an emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years.  The show’s unconventional structure consists of Cathy, the woman, telling her story backwards while Jamie, the man, tells his story chronologically; the two characters only meet once, at their wedding in the middle of the show. JRB won Drama Desk Awards for the music and the lyrics after the Off-Broadway premiere in 2002 starring Norbert Leo Butz and Sherie Rene Scott. The show has since been produced at almost every major regional theater in the US,
and has been seen in the UK, Korea, Japan, the hilippines,
Germany, Italy, Canada, and Spain.

Since its inception in 1975, The Heritage Players, Inc.
has offered good family entertainment at affordable prices to the community. The Heritage Players’ productions include dramas, mysteries, comedies and musicals, some well-known and some original scripts by talented local writers.

In the spring of 1996, THP moved to Catonsville United
Methodist Church from Ames United Methodist Church
in Pikesville. Since the move, they have been able to produce a wide variety of shows, from hit musicals like Oklahoma and Into the Woods, to smash Broadway plays like Noises Off!  They have also offered Shakespeare productions performed at the nearby Lurman Woodland Theater.

The Heritage Players have always aimed for excellence in performance while providing a climate for growth in the theatrical experience of our members, and have always believed in philanthropy for the benefit of the community. Since 1975, THP have donated over $38,000 to charitable organizations in the Baltimore metropolitan area. What makes these donations even more special is that the cast and crew for each main stage show choose the charity that will receive the benefit from their dedicated hard work.

In August 2008, THP moved to the Rice Auditorium at the Spring Grove Hospital in Catonsville.
