Weekend Activities: National Yard Sale and More

Saturday is the National Road Yard Sale Day along U.S. 40.

Frederick Road in Catonsville this Saturday will be the place to be for bargain hunters, as churches, stores and residents are participating in the National Road Yard Sale.

The annual event is an informally organized tradition of having a yard sale along U.S. 40 across the country on the first Saturday in June. In Maryland and in Baltimore County, the designation of the National Road is Md. 144 or Frederick Road.

The event in Catonsville, which is organized by members of the , is in its second year. Last year there were roughly 200 vendors.

Many churches have space available for free, including , and . Also particpating are and . Believe in Tomorrow Children's Foundation will also have a at their new .

1. The Maryland State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Mary Carroll Caton Chapter will do a grave marking for Mary Carroll Caton on .

Caton was the daughter of Charles Carroll of Carrollton, the signer of the Declaration of Independence and Richard Caton, for whom Catonsville is named.

2. The Samaritan Women of Baltimore, a nonprofit that supports women in crisis, is opening a on their on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
