Photo Gallery: Number 8 Streetcar Path Mural Cleanup

Volunteers removed graffiti, peeling paint from wall outside Summit Park Health and Rehabilitation Center on Sunday.

The mural along the Number 8 Streetcar Path that runs between Frederick Road and Edmondson Avenue started getting a facelift on Sunday, as volunteers came out to wipe, scrub, and scrape peeling paint off the decorated wall.

The mural, which was part of Clark LeCompte's 1997 Eagle Scout project, has become littered with graffiti in the years since. Maureen Sweeney Smith of Catonsville Rails To Trails, one of the cleanup's sponsors, said that the Kaleidescope! Arts Camp will arrive on Monday to paint over the wall, in time for the upcoming July 4th parade and fireworks celebrations. Patch documented the cleanup effort with photos.
