Parties, Concerts, Improv and More in Baltimore County this Weekend

Looking for something exciting to do this weekend? Check out some of the fun things going on around town.

There's a lot going on around Baltimore County this weekend. Here's our list:

Where:  M&T Bank Stadium, 1101 Russell St., Baltimore, MD, 21230

When: Friday, August 17, 2012, 8:00 p.m.

Why to go:  Check out the first pre-season game as the Ravens face off against the Detroit Lions.

Why to go:  The UMBC women's soccer team takes on Lafayette in its season home-opener at the Retriever Soccer Park at 7 p.m.

Where:  2100 Westchester Ave, Catonsville, MD

When:  Saturday, August 18, 2012, 8:00 a.m.

Why to go:  Every 3rd Saturday from April 21st thru October 20th, 2012 Trinity United Methodist Church hosts a Community Flea Market. 

Breakfast and Lunch is sold in our fellowship hall provided by our Trinity Chef's.

Where:  The Patterson/Creative Alliance, 3134 Eastern Ave., Baltimore, MD , 21224

When:  Daily (August 16th through August 19th)

Why to go:  Performances from some of the best improv comedy troupes from around the region highlight the festival – and many of those same troupes are also offering improv
workshops during the weekend. The festival will present a wide range of improvised comedy performances, all sharing the same hilarious characteristic: The actors invent environments, outrageous characters and fun plots from audience suggestions. There is no script, so anything can happen.

Pricing:  $8-$15; festival passes: $30-$50

Where:  Ripken Stadium, 873 Long Drive, Aberdeen, MD, 21001

When:  Friday, August 17th: 8:00 p.m.

Why to go:   The country superstar performs as this year's Ripken World Series concert.

Pricing:  $65.00-$75.00

Where:  McDonald's, 6225 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD

When:  Saturday, August 18, 2012, 7:30 a.m.

Why to go:  This group meets on the third Friday of every month. Please call for more information or to join the group. The first breakfast will be held at the McDonald's in Elkridge.

Where: 701 Wilson Point Rd, Middle River, MD

When:  Saturday, August 18, 2012, 11:00 a.m.

Why to go:  The Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum located at Martin State Airport is celebrating National Aviation Day on Saturday, August 18 from 11am to 3pm. This national day set aside to recognize aviation achievements was established in honor of Orville Wright's birthday. The Museum will also be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Glenn L. Martin Company. Joining the Museum for this event will be the 99's, Silver Wings, the Baltimore Chapter of the American Rosie the Riveter Association, and 21st century space technology pioneer Blaze Sanders with Solar Systems Express and the JURBAN Google Lunar X PRIZE team, showing that youth is the future of aviation and aerospace. 

On exhibit for this special flying holiday is a replica of a 1911 Ely-Curtiss Pusher aircraft built by Bob Coolbaugh and provided by Ely-Curtiss Aerial Exhibitions LLC. At 11:30am Fred Hall, the Museum's Volunteer Coordinator will share his experiences with the Berlin Airlift.At 12:30pm, the Museum's theatre-in-residence Thirst 'n' Howl Musical Productions will present its original musical "Right Place, Right Time, Wright Brothers" as it shares the story of Orville and Wilbur Wright and their quest to design and build a successful flying machine.

A visit to the Museum offers the opportunity to launch a dream and capture a memory.as visitors can climb aboard the 1952 passenger airliner the Martin 404. and sit in the pilot's seat of a jet fighter. The Museum's new exhibit "They Answered the Call", a salute to the World War II workers of the Glenn L. Martin Company will be open as visitors are greeted by "Hazel", a Martineer Rosie. This celebration of aviation is provided in part thanks to the support of the Baltimore County Commission on Arts and Sciences.
