My Favorite View in Catonsville is...

Fill in the blank Catonsville!

There are so many great places in Catonsville.

Maybe you love to spend time on your front porch waving to neighbors, or sitting outdoors upstairs at Ship's Cafe in the summertime watching the goings-on along Frederick Road.

Or maybe you sit atop a hill and have a little view of the city skyline, or a house that backs up to Patapsco Valley State Park.

Whatever your spot is, tell us your favorite view. Have some fun!

My favorite view is on my deck watching my Koi. My new least favorite view is of whatever high rise building is going up behind Dimitri's! I was coming out of Ellicott City last night on Frederick and instead of turning onto Old Frederick I decided to head home a different way (to check out the water main break) when I came up over the hill near the Horse Farm I was what was once a beautiful scenic view is now a high rise building wth????? I knew they were building back there but I guess I figured they would have left some of the trees to hide the development! It looks hidious!

Gina, are you talking about the Patapsco Overlook? That has been there for a few years: http://www.patapscooverlook.com/community_info.html as far as I know. The PUD to build townhomes behind Dimitri's was revoked: http://patch.com/A-hgp2

I am guessing that is what it is but it hasn't been there for years that building was built last year 2011.

Gina, well, Patch's history only dates back a year and a half roughly, but it looks like construction started in 2010: http://baltimorerealestate.citybizlist.com/1/2010/7/6/Construction-Begins-on-First-Phase-of-Patapsco-Overlook.aspx. I know last year in 2011 we interviewed some residents when the Thistle Landing PUD debate was going on.

OK getting back on topic here...every now and then when I'm driving in certain spots, I catch a glimpse of the downtown skyline at UMBC, CCBC and on Bloomsbury Avenue right around Holmes.

Penny, I love that view of the city. My other favorite view is from the windows upstairs at Atwater's. Also, the view of the horse farm early in the morning is so lovely- with or without horses on the hill. :)

Hilton Ave in the spring - the tree covered road influenced our decision to buy here 20 years ago!

I like the way the morning fog just sits on the horse farm(s)

And. though I may be villefied for saying it, the quaint view of chairs on Frederick Road set out for the parade make me smile. I was astonished when we first moved here that people could put them up and they were left alone!

My favorite view is a plate of shrimp and grits at Catonsville Gourmet.

The view from South Rolling road at the park and ride at night..you can see the city lights and you watch a partial view of Baltimore City's fire works on the 4th from there. Also the view from the south side of my deck looking down the hill through our yard and my neighbors...its looks like a park..

I like the amazing art deco water tower on Melvin that I can see from my home office window. Jim calls it the mother ship. There's an old photo on the wall at Dusenberg's that shows that site with its original pond and fountain.

The view from "City Lights" at Charlestown is spectacular.

We've only lived here for 5 years, but I have to agree that the chairs for 4th of July make me smile too. I was amazed that the chairs were set up so early and that no one bothered them. When we had company they always commented about the chairs. I know it might not be pretty, but it says something of tradition and community.

We bought a Catonsville home from a couple who moved in December 2010 and there were already two buildings built then. I'm a real estate agent and attended their open house in July 2010. During the Summer months, you can barely see the buildings with the tree coverage.
