Montrose Avenue Home is Winner of Lights Contest

The Parker family won "Best Decked House" in Catonsville.

The Parker home on Montrose Avenue, complete with its multiple blow-up characters and "Merry Christmas" lighted sign, was voted on by readers as the "best decked house" in Catonsville.

Patch ran a where readers uploaded photos of their homes decorated for the holidays. The house that received the most votes won the contest.

In Catonsville on Montrose Avenue, there are no shortage of beautifully decorated homes. Jennifer Parker said that she bought her first blow-up character 10 years ago.

Parker also jokes that she and her husband Ken make a great team as she does the shopping and he puts them up.

New additions this year included a helicopter on the roof and they have already started planning new additions for next year.

"We believe in sharing and have put things on friend’s lawns when they are not looking.  Over the years we have noticed more and more people are getting into the spirit, Catonsville is looking great," Parker wrote in an email.

The 24 Deck the House winners were selected and will receive $500 off their electric bills. One finalist will win $100,000 for his or her town's schools.

Columbia's entry submitted by Charles Daniels is a national finalist.

The homes—which you can see listed here—will be evaluated based on creativity, festive nature of decorations and capturing the spirit of the winter holidays, according to contest rules.
