Show Your Purple Pride Here

Local Ravens fans share their stories and photos.

When we asked for stories of Ravens fans who bleed purple, Patch got this story from Elizabeth Fitzgerald, who told us of her husband's 79-year-old grandmother who was of the original PSL owners at M&T Bank stadium and was a majorette for the Colts back in the day.

The longtime Catonsville and Arbutus area resident Jo Ann Bozentka now lives in Eldersburg, but eats, sleeps and breathes Baltimore football, according to her family.

"Just [Monday] night, we entered a picture into the Ravens fan photo contest on baltimoreravens.com of her headstone which is engraved to say “Go Ravens”!!! It is complete with an orange and purple bouquet with black Raven birds, in memory of her deceased husband (his side says Go Orioles!). When she had concrete poured at her Arbutus home, she was sure to quickly engrave “Go Ravens” in the sidewalk before it dried! Regardless of whether she sends her friends or family members a Christmas card, a birthday card, or a St. Patrick’s Day card, you can count on “Go Ravens” having been written above her signature with a note about Super Bowl hopes. Sadly, we recently buried her sister, but Grandma wore purple, and later her jersey, and at the end of the service, she led the family in a rousing rendition of both the Baltimore Colts and Ravens fight songs to properly send off Aunt Bonnie. It was priceless!"
