4th of July Fundraising Starts Off With a Flash

Catonsville Parade and Fireworks Committee stages fundraiser for 4th of July Celebrations

What do a T-shirt, a lawn chair, and  gunpowder all have in common?

Why, the annual Catonsville 4th of July Parade and Fireworks Celebration, of course!

The Catonsville Parade and Fireworks Committee, which for 65 years has staged the event, kicked off its 2011 fundraising campaign Friday night at Matthew's Restaurant in Catonsville with a "Not-Too-Spontaneous Flash Mob" gathering. Featuring a Town Crier, Patriot Pete, and Lady Liberty, the committee, which finances the 4th of July festivities 100 percent through donations, sold T-shirts and tickets to an upcoming dance to be held at the Catonsville Armory on March 5. Patch was there to take photos.
