Through this internet-based technology, the public is able to make monetary donations easier to help the organization purchase food items for people in need, proven to be much quicker than the traditional can food drive. Last year, the Maryland Food Bank distributed more than 26.5 million pounds of food to those in need through a network of 600 soup kitchens, pantries and shelters across the state. UEO is hoping to raise at least $1,000 from local donations via the online site.
