Woman Robbed at Wilkens Avenue Bus Stop

Two suspects take purse from 40-year-old woman waiting for bus near Wilkens Beltway Plaza.

A 40-year-old woman was robbed of her purse on Oct. 26 while waiting for a bus at Wilkens Avenue and Maiden Choice Lane near Wilkens Beltway Plaza, according to a police report.

At around 6:15, the woman was waiting for the bus when two teenage male suspects walked past and said hello, the report said.

When the woman turned around, the suspects pushed the woman against a fence and took her purse, according to the report.

The suspects ran down College Avenue to the rear of the 4400 block of Alan Drive, where they took the money and identification out of the victim's wallet and left the purse, the report said.

I hope further descriptions of the perpetrators are not being omitted in the article. Mentioning their gender and approximate age while choosing to not mention further known descriptions may point to discrimination toward teenaged males by the reporter. Stating in the article that the police report did not include further descriptions of the perpetrators would clarify whether The Patch is reporting all the facts or simply being politically correct. Your readers do not buy the lame claim that "the Patch doesn't include information not pertinent to the crime nor helpful in solving it" or however it reads. Stop the PC man.

When I lived in New Mexico all I heard from this area was it is politically correct to refer to people in that area as "Native Americans". There in the southwest we lived in the middle of "8 Northern NM INDIAN Pueblos". I was told by a friend that I was born in the US so I was also a Native American. True. She said she was an Indian. So...I am guessing here on the east coast we are trying waaaayyyy toooo hard to be PC. I totally agree with Ms. Stanton. COME ON!!!
