UMBC Incubator Gets 20 New Tenants in 18 Months

The tech incubator complex at UMBC is growing.

 

In just 18 months, the BWTech incubator at UMBC has added 20 new tenants, according to a report from Bmore Media.

The incubator currently hosts 86 tenants and 14 affiliated companies and organizations. In the last two years, many of the new tenants have been in the area of cybersecurity, according to the article.

The incubator started in two trailers in 1989 on the campus and now sits on 71 acres of off Interstate 195 on the western edge of the campus.

Wow!!! You've come a long way, baby!!! I remember before retiring from UMB the term "incubator" was used to describe the building at the UMBC research technology park...and I thought at the time what an innovative term to use ...as in "hatching" future companies....wonder if they will be successful in this venture. That was then...this is now. Congratulations!!!
