Security Blvd. Beltway Ramp Closed for Utility Work
Ramp from inner loop to eastbound Security Boulevard closed on weeknights for the next month.
The Maryland State Highway Administration announced the temporary closure of the ramp from the inner loop of the I-695 beltway to eastbound Security Boulevard on weekday nights beginning on Sept. 26.
The closure is necessary for Baltimore Gas and Electric crews to perform maintenance on a natural gas pipeline beneath the ramp, the SHA wrote in a release.
Gas service to BGE customers will not be disrupted during the project, according to the SHA.
The ramp will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m the following morning, from Sunday through Thursday nights, according to SHA.
Work is expected to last about a month, SHA said in the release.
Motorists traveling from northbound I-695 to eastbound Security Boulevard on weeknights will be directed to take Exit 17 for Security Boulevard; stay left on the ramp and proceed to westbound Security Boulevard; proceed west past Belmont Avenue, Lord Baltimore Drive, North Rolling Road; at the end of the highway, make a U-turn onto eastbound Security Boulevard.
SHA said that motorists traveling from northbound I-695 to Woodlawn, Dickeyville, Baltimore City and other destinations east of I-695 should plan ahead for extra travel time on weeknights during the next month.
