Patapsco Heritage Greenway is looking for volunteers to help maintain trees near the Herbert Run on UMBC property near Shelbourne Road this Saturday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Parking and registration will be in the gravel parking lot across the street from the county ball field and Arbutus Middle School. Look for the bright red Jeep for registration.
Volunteers are welcome to bring your family and friends. Children under 16 are welcome if they are supervised and accompanied by an adult volunteer.
The group asks that volunteers bring work gloves, a shovel, a bucket to haul mulch and small garden clippers to trim back any weeds.
They also need volunteers to bring wheel barrows and post hammers and/or sledge hammers to readjust and pound in crooked wooden stakes
The group suggests that volunteers mark your name on any tools or equipment you bring with you using permanent marker so in case they are found later, items can be returned.
They also recommend you bring your own water/drink, sunscreen and insect repellent. If you are allergic to insect bites or stings, please bring any needed medications and notify the stream captain of your allergy.
There are no nearby restrooms available in this park area, so please plan accordingly.
