Open Thread: Which Democrat Should Run for Governor?
The next gubernatorial election in 2014 could draw a crowded primary field.
Comptroller Peter Franchot, who was expected to run for governor in 2014, announced Tuesday he would not seek the post.
Franchot, whose criticism of Gov. Martin O’Malley lead many to believe he would run, instead announced he would seek to retain his current position.
But just because Franchot won’t run, doesn’t mean there won’t be a crowded primary field.
Other Democrats who may seek the office include: Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown, Del. Heather Mizeur, Attorney General Doug Gansler and Howard County Executive Ken Ulman.
What Democrat would you like to see make a run for the state’s top office? Tell us in the comments why you would like to see that person campaign for the office.

If that's the best that they can come up with then that explains why Maryland is in the position they are in now. Darrell's is the best answer so far.

Only two more years of the current tax and spend loser! Where has the time gone? Only seems like six years ago that the citizens of Maryland had two billion more dollars in their pockets. That is how much thie slime ball MOM and the rest of the losers of Annapolis have raised the taxes and fees of Mayland citizens, all in the name of "moving Maryland forward". This governor and democratic legislature are nothing but scum but then the bigger idiots (the voters) put them in now didn't they? Doesn't matter who comes in next, could do no worse then what we have now.

How long before Baltimore becomes Detroit under one party liberal rule for decades?
"only 54.3 percent of these — or 305,479 individuals — actually do participate in the labor force, meaning they either have a job or are looking for one.
Another 257,576 of Detroit residents age 16 or older — 45.7 percent of that demographic — do not participate in the labor force. They do not have a job, and they are not looking for one.
In fact, these 257,576 people in Detroit who do not have a job and are not looking for one outnumber the 224,846 residents who do have jobs. But of the 224,846 residents who do have jobs, 34,500 — or 15.3 percent — have jobs with the government. Thus, this city that boasted 1,849,568 residents in 1950 has only 190,346 private-sector workers today.
There are 264,209 households in Detroit, and 91,204 of them — or 34.5 percent — get food stamps.
Very few of the people who are staying out of the labor force in Detroit are staying out because they are stay-at-home moms with working husbands. Of the 264,209 households in Detroit, only 24,275 — or 9.2 percent — are married couple families with children under 18. Another 78,438 households — or 29.7 percent of the total — are "families" headed by women with no husband present. Of these, 43,742 have children under 18."

ROTFLMAO What did anybody expect the Conservative News Service to say?
Nothing happens in a vacuum. There is a reason there is one party domination in Maryland. The MDGOP is in a shambles and they are incapable of fielding an acceptable candidate.

The Governor didn't put the guy in jail. He put himself in jail by committing a crime. He had his day in court and a jury found him guilty. Then he appealed and was found guilty again.
That's the way the system is supposed to work isn't it?

I have thought long and hard about who should even be considered to run for governor and I'm at a total loss as Peter Franchot has decided not to run for the position. The Democratic party here in Maryland will be hard pressed in finding a viable candidate that will truly work for the good of the citizenry of Maryland that aren't outright liars or thieves. Too many of todays politicians are only interested in what will benefit them and not the people who put them in office.

I would say Randy "Macho Man" Savage, but he has passed away. Perhaps either Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka or Hulk Hogan, if O'Malley can get them as Maryland residents. Why you ask? Under the policies of President Bush of sending kids off to war to face horrific injuries without paying for it and President Obama, whose policies have almost finished off the country, we are hanging by a thred. O'Malley has done his part to the working people in Maryland. He has applied many swinging neck breakers, suplexes, hit us with foreign objects, but has no finishing move. He can get Hogan or Snuka and tag out to them. Hogan drop the big boot on us or Snuka can climb to the top rope and hit us with the flying headbutt. The results will be the same, 1, 2, 3, its all over for the working people of Maryland.

Franchot was and still is a liberal, but after he became Comptroller he had a real chance to see how wasteful the ever taxing dems really are. I don't know why he decided not to run that was his choice. I do know that the citizens of Maryland will NOT be well served by whoever the dems put up because they are all only worried about party and what is good for it and not what is good for ALL citizens of Maryland.

Understand something people, Maryland been just a waystation for MOM, something to fill his time while he dreams of that little white house 30 miles to the south. He has spent the last two years running around the country, getting face time on tv as president of the democrat governors assoc. or whatever, all for the purpose of gaining the holy grail, to be called MR. PRESIDENT. I'm sure somewhere he has hidden a mustle tee shirt that says "MR. PRESIDENT" and he sleeps with a doll dressed the same way. Except for taxing the hell out of the citizens of Maryland, similar to what his hero BOB wants to do at the national level, he has long left the best interest of Maryland citizens in the rear view mirror.

Reader, you are absolutely right and by the way, I have seen the work of MOM over the years, and I can't think of a time when he honestly had the best interest of Maryland citizens. Seems to me that MOM has always been interested in MOM. Maryland government is such a joke and if I could, I would move far away from this corrupt, greedy place.

MOM is a scumbag and cares only about himself and not the citizens of this state. Honestly I do not have anything nice to say about this clown and would spit in his face if given the chance. Moved here from PA last yr and it was the worst decision I ever made...needless to say I'm looking to move back to PA soon. The citizens of this state who have been robbed of their hard earned money via ridiculous taxes from this f#ckface should drag him into the middle of downtown Annapolis and give him a well deserved beatdown...I know I'd be the first one to take a swing haha (I heard o'dipshit likes to fight people lol). Time to weed the garden in Annapolis...
