Memorial Day is about honoring fallen heroes. For retailers, the long weekend means armies of shoppers will be coming in on their days off.

Highlights: 40 percent off at Chico’s ; buy one, get one 50 percent off at Fire and Ice; Nordstrom half yearly sale is May 23 to June 3.
- Arundel Mills in Hanover is having a mall-wide sale, with participating retailers displaying “Super Sale” window decals.
Highlights: 30 percent off at Last Call by Neiman Marcus; $5 sale at The Children’s Place, with $5 tops and bottoms.

Highlights: Buy one pair of shorts, get second for $1 at Rue 21; Foot Locker is debuting its exclusive Nike Air Penny 2 “Sprite” for $155 over the weekend.
