County Offers Free Vaccines Ahead of School Year

The county has scheduled two sessions to immunize children up to 18.

Before sending the kids off to school later this month, check if their immunization records are up to date.

The county is offering free recommended vaccinations for children up to 18 who are eligible under the Vaccines for Children program, according to a news release. This includes children without health insurance and who are on Medicaid.

Parents do not need to schedule appointments, but must bring a copy of their child's immunization records, the release reads. Students entering college can receive the meningitis vaccine.

Vaccinations are available at the following times and locations:

Monday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Woodlawn Health Center

1811 Woodlawn Drive

Baltimore, MD 21207

Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Eastern Family Resource Center

9100 Franklin Square Drive

Baltimore, MD 21237

For more information, check out the county's website or call (410)-887-2705.

This is one area the county is taking the right step although it should be the parents responsibility to see that their children are adequately inoculated.

Say it ain't so Buzz, say it ain't so. I don't want my tax dollars helping some poor kid and their parents. This is a total waste. Let's file a FOIA and see who made this decision. I want all of the notes from the meetings and all e-mails. And, if we don't get them ,lets go to court. C'mon Buzz, rally the troops, this is just up your alley, gov't overreaching. What right do they have to help inoculate anyone, that's personal responsibility and I don't want my hard-earned tax dollars going to this. C'mon Buzz, lets get Buck, JD, "wilson" and Meg on board, we can stop this!

The parents do have to take the steps to get their children there, and have immunization records, etc.

Parents should also know that Maryland has an insurance program for children: http://mmcp.dhmh.maryland.gov/chp/SitePages/Home.aspx

In the blog there will be where Baltimore County places in unemployment, healthcare along with some of he data on the SS budget.

It will take about a day or two to complete it but don't look for a rose but more of a thorn bush.

Here is a sample:

Not a good start and there is more to come.
