Catonsville Gourmet Owner Sells Restaurant

Sean Dunworth said that nothing will change with the restaurant.

(UPDATED TUESDAY) Sean Dunworth, the co-owner of Catonsville Gourmet and founder of Regions, has sold Catonsville Gourmet.

Dunworth said he couldn't speak more about the sale or the details because the deal was still being finalized.

The popular Frederick Road seafood restaurant was sold to restaurant owner Craig Rinkerman, who Dunworth said does not own any restaurants in the area.

Dunworth said his decision was a business decision.

"I built the business up and it's a good thing for me," he said. "I loved what I was doing, but ready for the next adventure."

The day-to-day operations of the restaurants will not change, Dunworth said, including anything with the staff. It is expected that Chef Rob Rehmert will stay on.

Catonsville Gourmet opened in 2008 and Regions opened in 2010.

Editor's note: The original article in Patch said that Dunworth is an owner of Regions, which he no longer is. Patch regrets the error.

Wow, I really enjoy seeing Sean when we go to the Gourmet. He has done such a great job bringing people to Catonsville. I pray that it continues just as it is.

Catonsville Gourmet really forced the rest of the Frederick Rd. eateries to step up their game. I hope the new owner keeps the quality up. The restaurant generates a lot of spill-over business, and so long as those tables stay full the whole community benefits.

Sean,
You did a wonderful job of building your business and the reputation of the service and quality of the food at Catonsville Gourmet. People know of the Catonsville Gourmet and come from all over not just Catonsville to enjoy what you and your staff serve. The attention Catonsville receives because of what you have acheived is fabulous. Thank you for all you have done and I wish you the very best in your new adventures.

Now that Sean can concentrate on Regins, maybe the food will improve. My first (and last) meal I had there was very disappointing. I ordered a salad and two small plates. The "Mad Hatter" was swimming with olive oil, as was the tomato stuffed with crab. The meal had an effect on me similar to a dose of mineral oil.

How can we follow Sean so we'll know when he opens up another restaurant? Loved the Tiber River when he owned that, love the Gourmet. Regions, not so much. We've eaten there twice. The food is OK, but the service was poor.

Sean did not own Tiber River

The article was a bit misleading, I think. Let me get this straight; Sean previously gave up Regions awhile ago and is selling The Gourmet. So, he won't have any restaurants in Catonsville? I have yet to eat at Catonsville Gourmet and I may never get to taste the quality. I do hope the new owner is up to par, considering the nice things everyone has said about Mr. Dunworth.

Ron, yes, the article was updated today to reflect a correction after I spoke with Sean Tuesday. I do not know when he sold his part in Regions, although the Regions website still lists him as a co-owner. When I am able to sit down with the new owner I will provide an update. I have eaten at both restaurants and have had positive experiences at both!
