Catonsville Race Returns After a Year Hiatus

The Catonsville Rotary Club brings back the race with new sponsors, prizes and a modified course.

Catonsville residents and runners who are looking for a fall race to train for will now have a local race to choose from again, as the Catonsville Fall Into Fitness race returns in September.

The race, which had been held for more than 10 years by the Catonsville Rotary Club, was not held last year due to low membership for the club. CCBC has been involved for the past three years.

But this year, organizer Cal Oren said, membership has increased and the group felt they could pull off the event again.

The race will include a a 5k run, a 10k run, a 5k fun walk and a Zumbathon. It will also serve a fundraiser for the CCBC mansion restoration fund, CCBC athletic scholarships, the Wounded Warrior program and other Catonsville charities.

Volunteers from the rotary and CCBC will run the event, but what the group would like the most is more runners. Oren said the race date of Sept. 29 is the perfect time for a race, as cooler temperatures are expected.

The club is active in supporting dozens of local charities, including the Children's Home, the Catonsville Tree Canopy Project and the Bloomsbury mural.
