Body Found in Woods of Oella, Death Ruled Homicide
Baltimore County Police have identified the body of a woman who was found in the woods Sunday.
Baltimore County police have ruled that the death of a woman whose body was found near Frederick Road in the woods of Oella is a homicide.
According to police, a bicyclist saw the body on Sunday and called 911. When detectives arrived at the scene, they found no signs of trauma and no identification.
The victim was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office and an autopsy was performed Monday.
Police identified the woman as Janell Earlita Balogun, 33, of the 2700 block of Rittenhouse Avenue in Baltimore.
Police are asking that anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in Oella around Frederick Road late on June 9 or early on June 10 contact police.

Stories like this really worry me. There was no mention in the Sunpaper. I hope there are more details in the Catonsville Times later this week. Let's hope the police figure this out quickly.

How can it be ruled a homicide with no signs of trauma on the body?
Bruce Goldfarb
3:49 pm on Monday, June 11, 2012
The police said there were no visible signs of trauma--no obvious wounds. Other things that are less readily apparent may be found on autopsy, such as a broken hyoid bone or petechiae (tiny broken blood vessels) that would indicate strangulation, for example. I don't know if this is the case with this woman, but there are causes of homicide death that don't produce obvious, externally visible signs of trauma.

Terry, What do you mean by Catonsville becoming a small Irvington.Catonsville is much larger then Irvington. I grew up in Irvington in the 50's and 60's, what a beautiful place to live then. Now it is a ghetto dump. So upsetting to me that I can't even drive thru it. I am not attacking you, I just wonder what you meant by your comment.

As long as housing prices stay up in Catonsville it will be a long long time before we are Irvington. High housing prices are the only thing standing between the city and Catonsville.

Mr. Al Walker,
When the family member joins in the conversation, Passion and humanity comfort is foremost needed plus respect to the family. Your reference to my name, I thank you for being creative elementary style school child. Islamic Nigerians burn Christian churches on Sundays and shoot all who flee the fires! They do this almost every Sunday. "Dozens of people are feared dead and injured after two separate attacks on churches in Nigeria during Sunday service, the government said.
A suicide bomber blew himself up near a church in the central city of Jos on Sunday, while gunmen attacked another church in Biu in the country's northeast.
Armed Islamist sect Boko Haram later claimed responsibility for both attacks, a purported spokesman for the group said."
"Christians from a local Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) congregation in this Plateau state town have been displaced after Muslim extremists set their church building and some homes on fire last month.
The Rev. Ishaku Danyok of the church told Compass that the April 29 incident occurred after Muslims approached Christian music shop owner Gabriel Kiwase and told him that his music was disturbing them as they said their prayers."

Al Walker ,you made a good point what was she doing in the area ??? obviosly someone from the area brought her out there and dumbed her, or she was visiting someone from the area. With that being said regardless of her record someone from your area was dealing with her. and they were wicked enough murder her and leave her in the woods. So while you running your mouth and judging her. Youre living in a community with a murderer. whom ever left her there was in a comfort zone and knew the area very well. Well enough to know no one would see them.

Al, the only things I have to say too you are as follows:
1. Her photo is not a mugshot. They use a white or Ivory background for those. It is the same color clue as in the background of my MVA photo on my license.
2. Who cares if she has a record or not? She was murdered and left behind a family. They loved her and deserve the same respect that I would, or anyone else would expect if they had someone lose their life like this.
As for the family, Prayers for you and hoping she is at peace.

Janell was raised beautifully by both parents&grandparents she came from working educated parents! Her decisions shouldn't solidify inhumane comments! My heart aches for her family its repulsive how some people in our God given society depict people family&their life dynamics based upon vague facts or a public police report we all have drug addicts in Our families whether functional or dysfunctional however we all should show empathy love compassion&respect
