Bike Stolen at Yard Sale
Prospective customer took off with red and black Trek mountain bike.
A Catonsville resident found out the hard way that trust only goes so far, while a bike taken for a test ride can go all the way down the street and around the corner.
Jack MacConnell, of the 1500 block of Park Grove Avenue was holding a yard sale on Saturday morning, when at around 9:30 a.m. a man smoking a cigarette inquired about a red and black Trek mountain bike that was for sale.
According to the MacConnell, the prospective customer asked to take the bike for a test ride to the corner. The seller agreed.
"He never came back with the bike," he said. "One shouldn't trust people who show up at yard sales. Live and learn."
The bike is a Trek 3500 mountain bike with serial no. SC34CT441, valued at about $200.
The suspect is described as a male wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap.

"a man smoking a cigarette" A very odd notation of that fact. Does it matter to the story?
I have done that before but held the DL or the cost of the bike until he made up his mind.
