Why would anyone even consider giving this boy bail. If he isn't locked up in jail he should be locked up in a mental hospital. This was not because of bullying, this was because he is sick in the head.

In my opinion, I would deny him bail because he is a flight risk due to his mental instability.

Our broken children are still children. Please remember to pray for all of our children and for two families that are suffering now.

Love what his attorney is saying now - he didn't intend to shoot anyone, his gun discharged when he was tackled by administrators. Give me a break! His face book page is a huge clue to how he planned this. He even liked the "kids" that shot at Columbine and posted what he posted the morning of the shooting. If he didn't intend to shoot anyone then why bring a gun to school. He needs help and to be locked up.

I feel very sad for him. He definitely needs some mental help. But I'm sure he has endured a lifetime of pain and neglect to get where he is today. It's sad that he fell through the system somewhere along the way and no one noticed or cared enough to help him. I'll be praying for him as well as the victim.

I do believe the bail hearing is procedure. it does not mean he will be granted bail. calm down!

Usually I'm all for swift and hard justice in cases like this, but it's apparent something is going on with this kid. When other kids in school speak up about how he was constantly bullied and harassed before he finally snapped, in addition to a less than optimal home life/upbringing, it's plain to see some "there" there. While Gladden needs to pay for his irresponsible, dangerous, and possibly murderous actions I hope he gets the help he obviously needs.

It may just be procedure but we all know it happens. I really hope he's denied bail. To get her to not be so scared to go back on Tuesday I promised my daughter he would not be out on the street again anytime soon, hopefully not while she's still in school.

You should see the crap these supposed bullies are posting on Twitter. As a mother of a male child with long hair that listens to metal music I know how my own son has been picked on, bullied and been called names because he is different and not wearing his pants hangin off his butt to the point that he wanted to hurt himself. So I believe Bobby just needed help long before this situation got to this point. I know I check my son's facebook and I"m aware of things when my child isn't acting right the difference is I got him the help he needs. Bobby apparently didn't get that. Yes he should be punished for his actions but he doesn't need to spend the rest of his life in jail he also needs help. I'm praying for both of them boys. Both his father and step father have a criminal history of drug abuse and violent charges whether found guilty or not. If you look at it online you will also see what seems to be a stressful family court situation that he was involved in between his parents. School should of been a place he could go to get away from all that not be tortured by bullies. The schools should definitely also be addressing the bullying issue in the schools not acting like it doesn't happen and its all he said she said like they do and I know they do because of my experience with the schools that they do nothing until something happens like my son getting jumped on his walk home from school by 3 boys and a 4th boy from the high school near the middle school my son attends.

One person commented that he is a broken CHILD, suggesting compassion. Broken home, broken parents, broken etc. All this brokeness in his young life suggests a broken adult life for him. Sorry folks all those prayers won't fix this person if he is broken to the core. Possibly nothing will fix him. If so, he needs to be kept in a place where broken people can't hurt innocent people, and hopefully not a a great monetary expense to society. Charles Manson was a broken child that became a broken adult with no hopes of recovery. It just happens. Oh well.

I cannot believe that I know both of these boys and their families -- one a lost soul; the other an innocent soul. I pray to God for both of these boys to be whole again. This is a horrible tragedy for both families. Prayers and kindness for all is what is needed right now -- posting negative thoughts and words only hurt more -- this situation is sad enough -- why cause more pain to anyone. Funny - I wonder if there would be so much bible thumping and forgiveness if a child of their own was in critical condition with a gunshot wound. The "system" failed this kid. His parents failed him. His teachers failed him. His guidance counsellors failed him. His friends failed him. So be it - he is unstable, dangerous and unfortunately will never be able to function in society. It's not fair, it's not just, it is just the way it is. There are hundreds of Bobby's sitting in classes all over Baltimore County. If you want to do something, hold kids, schools, parents, teachers, and superintendents accountable for letting troubled kids like this slip,through the cracks. He is a lost cause, but maybe we can save a few before its too late.

Daniel's family IS praying for Bobby - they are a Christian family through and through, and they know that Bobby is a lost soul. And, you do not know Bobby, and he is a lost soul now because he has slipped threw the cracks with everyone, but that does not mean he cannot be fixed. He is not a lost cause. I'm sorry that he's broken and everyone in his life has failed him. Obviously he needs help, but there is no reason for him to be out on bail before getting that help. My child and the other 2,200 plus students and their families at Perry Hall High School deserve the peace of mind knowing he is being detained.

Granted, the shooter is troubled. However the school system failed him. All the kids know his history. He has been in and out of Crossroads for years. My kids tell me he incites a fight the first day he gets back to his home school. BTW, you don't get sent to crossrosds if you are the victim.

I think Crossroads is a school that Balto. Co. has set up for kids that have violent issues in their live and can't function in regular school without disrupting and harming other people. We have such a school on our side of town. I believe ours is called Bridge School. These schools don't work though. The shrinks just tell them that the world has failed them and that it's not personal fault. They give them all kinds of accolades that they don't deserve. Bring back the labor schools, like the old St. Mary's Industrial School that Babe Ruth was sentenced to. The treatment he received their apparently had some influence to correct his behavior. Hugs are effective when given by the real family. Shrinks and therapist's hugs will not replace this. It's too late.

Letting him out on bail will only release him to the same toxic environment he came out of. He needs to stay where he is and hopefully get the help he needs. It would probably traumatize the entire high school if the kids thought he was out and there would probably be some kids who would want to be the hero and try to harm him. Better all the way around to keep Bobby either in the hospital or jail.

Hi, Folks. A bail hearing is a required formality. But it cannot normally be held while the subject is being treated at a hospital. Rosedale Alternative School is the Eastside school for children who repeatedly misbehave in school. Even Rosedale, however, is not equipped to deal with the very violent children as in this case. A more intensive program would be required. But, consider this; Adult court is set up first as punishment for offenses and secondarily for rehabilitation. Juvenile courts do not punish child offenders as a matter of law. Juvie courts are strictly for treatment and rehab. His attorney is setting up the argument for waiving the charges back to the juvenile court. Now, treatment in juvenile court does not necessarily mean that this child would be released. He could be put on house arrest with electronic monitoring. He could also sit at the Charles Hickey School until his trial. But even after the trial he could be committed to the Dept of Juvenile Services for placement in a secure facility for an indeterminite length of treatment which could be until he turns 21 years old. If the charges stay in adult court he could do hard time in the Dept of Corrections. Or he could be released on supervised probation and required to attend an in- or out-patient treatment program. The choice will be up to one of our fine Circuit Court Judges. And I mean that sincerely about the Judges being fine individuals. They are very capable jurists.

Chillin is absolutely correct about both schools. The students there cannot cope in their home schools for a variety of reasons. Violence, drug use and antisocial behavior are problems that will get you a trip to those schools. Rosedale has similar entrance requirements. Like I said, you don't get sent there if you are a victim.

The school system needs to get a total make-over. The new student handbook says instead of suspending a student, you should talk to him, send him to the school counselor, redirect him, talk to the parents and other touchy-feely things like that. This is to be applied to students that have trouble in the classroom for things ranging from not completing assignments to fighting to ARSON...in other words offenses ranging from being a classroom clown to comitting a FELONY. What's wrong with this?!?!?!? There is absolutely no accountability in schools. That is the first and biggest lesson the kids in school learn. They need to be held accountable and maybe they will learn to be responsible adults.

Im sorry but i dont think everyone nos the whole story...y is it that kids who were there said he didnt point n shoot but shot @ floor...not 2 mention when whoever rushed him is when the other kid got shot...yes it is wrong 2 bring a gun 2 school...but was indured 2 have 2 intimidate 2 that level? Im sorry but get the KID the help he needs n charge him as a kid....my prayers r with both families and i have already donated money for the kid who was shot...but what bout bobby?!

Bobby needs to be charged as an adult because what he did was very serious. He took a shotgun and a lot of amunition to school, he took alcohol to school (reports say he had a few sips so thats another charge of underage drinking if fact), he hid the gun then put it together and fired it twice before he was stopped. There are several charges in there and they are all considered adult charges. He does need help and I hope he gets it.
