Cancer Never Sleeps
The CCBC Enterprise Institute and Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) invite you to participate in this year’s Catonsville Relay For Life. This event reminds us that we can celebrate life, no matter the circumstances and no one has to fight cancer alone. Relay For Life reminds us to remember lost loved ones. Relay For Life reminds us that we can fight cancer – and win.
Relay For Life of Catonsville is an overnight fundraiser for the American Cancer Society that will take place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. June 9 to 10, 2012, at the Community College of Baltimore County, Catonsville on the Stadium Track. During the relay, teams take turns walking around a track for the entire event. The event also will feature food, games, entertainment, and fundraising opportunities.
In 2011, Relay For Life of Catonsville raised $102,511. This year's goal is $120,000. Donations collected by relay members support programs for cancer patients, Hope Lodge that offers out-of-town cancer patients and caregivers a place to stay during treatment, college scholarships and cancer research.
Catonsville cancer survivors and caregivers are celebrated throughout the event. Cancer survivors lead the first relay lap and then they and the caregivers are treated to dinner donated by local businesses. Survivors and caregivers throughout the community are welcome to attend whether or not they participated on a team.
When night falls, luminaria honoring cancer survivors and those who have died are lit and help light the way for walkers.

Current relay team members and anyone interested in learning more about starting a team can attend the monthly team meetings that will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012.
